Christmas is usually a special and happy occasion, but for many women and children in our local community who may be dealing with domestic violence, family breakdown, or social isolation, it can also be one of the toughest times of the year.
With the support of Junction Fair Shopping Centre, the Newcastle community is invited to give something magical to women and children in need this Christmas by donating a gift to the Giving Tree, near The Essential Ingredient.
Every Christmas, in partnership with local churches and community organisations, the Nova for Women and Children charity coordinates and delivers hundreds of Christmas gifts to women and children needing support.
Junction Fair Centre manager Jessica Doak believes that Christmas should be a celebration for everyone.
"We hope that the donated gifts will assist women and children who find themselves in challenging situations," she said.
"Last year we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the Newcastle community with over 600 gifts donated.
"To help Nova For Women and Children this year, simply take a tag from the Giving Tree near The Essential Ingredient, purchase a gift, place it in a bag and drop it off to The Essential Ingredient."
Nova For Women and Children works tirelessly to make sure its clients receive the best possible assistance to avoid becoming homeless or, if they are homeless or experiencing domestic or family violence, they provide access to safe, affordable and secure housing.
Junction Fair Shopping Centre and Nova For Women and Children encourage the Newcastle community to support this year's Giving Tree by donating a gift before Monday, December 20, and help spread a little magic this Christmas.
The Giving Tree operates from November 9 until December 20, 2021.
